Directions
Whakaipo Lodge is situated 10 minutes from central Taupo at Unit 1, 504 Mapara Road. There is a Whakaipo Lodge sign on Mapara Road and another smaller one at our driveway entrance 100m up our private road, on the left under the gum trees. The best way to find us is enter "Whakaipo Lodge" into Google or Apple Maps on your phone and it will bring you right here. Alternatively, if you have GPS enter the address and it will take you directly to the lodge. (You may have to load just 504 Mapara Road without "1/")
Getting to Whakaipo Lodge from the south/Taupo
Head north out of Taupo and take the left, at the traffic lights (Norman Smith St) after the Waikato River Control Gates bridge and follow the well sign posted road to Acacia Bay, which is a 5km drive along Acacia Bay Road. When you come into Acacia Bay go through the 50km/h speed sign, continue on the main road, which becomes Wakeman Road, for about 500m and take the second right up the hill into Mapara Road. (There is a large ceramic chair sculpture on the corner opposite!) Follow Mapara Road for 5km, up and over the hill to Whakaipo Lodge, which is well sign posted on your right, 500m after Tukairangi Road. Turn right into the private road (look out for a big rock with "504" on it!) and take the first driveway on the left, again well sign posted, and you are at Whakaipo Lodge.
Whakaipo Lodge from Auckland and the north
Heading into Taupo, just past the 50km/hr speed sign, take the first right into Poihipi Road (signposted Kinloch and Acacia Bay). 500m along Poihipi Road take the first left into Acacia Bay Road. Carry on along this, through the stop sign, all the way to Acacia Bay, which is about 4 km.When you come into Acacia Bay go through the 50km/h speed sign, continue on the main road, which becomes Wakeman Road, for about 500m and take the second right up the hill into Mapara Road. Flying
Taupo has its own airport which is serviced by scheduled domestic flights daily. The airport is located approximately 8km from the town. Connecting flights through most main centre airports are available on scheduled domestic flights. To book flights check with Air New Zealand (or SoundsAir for Wellington-Taupo flights).

Whakaipo Lodge is approximately 20 minutes’ drive (18km) from the airport.
Helicopters are permitted to land on the Lodge's extensive grounds. Please contact us if you wish to arrive by helicopter.
