Whakaipo Lodge complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 when dealing with personal information and we are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Under no circumstances will the details of guests be shared amongst individuals, nor be distributed to third parties, without consent.

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a booking with www.whakaipolodge.co.nz (the “Site”).

By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

 

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

  • “Cookies” and “Web Beacons” are used to store information including visitors’ preferences and the pages that the visitor accessed or visited.

Additionally, when you make a purchase/booking or attempt to make a purchase/booking through the Site, we collect certain information from you, including your name, address, payment information, email address and phone number.  We refer to this information as “Booking Information.”

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Booking Information.

 

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

We use the Booking Information that we collect to fulfil any bookings placed through the Site (including processing your payment information and providing you with invoices and/or booking confirmations).  

Note: We do not store credit card details. Additionally, we use this Personal Information to:

Communicate with you.

Screen our bookings for potential risk or fraud; and

When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

 

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Third parties, some of which are based overseas, which we share your personal information with include:

  • Windcave DPS, our payment gateway provider
  • Resbook, our reservation system
  • Mailchimp, our email marketing provider
  • Google Analytics & Google Ad Manager, for targeted advertising
     

We do not authorise third parties to use or disclose your personal information except for the purpose of providing the service we request from them. All third parties, which we disclose your personal information to, are subject to obligations under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 to protect your information from unauthorised use or disclosure.

Whakaipo Lodge’s Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites. Thus, we are advising you to consult respective Privacy Policies of these third parties for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with New Zealand Government laws and regulations or other lawful requests for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

 

YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to request access to and correct any personal information we hold about you at any time. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.

DATA RETENTION

When you place a booking through the Site, we will maintain your Booking Information for our records for two years unless you ask us to delete this information.
